Dionaea muscipula
3" pot
The Venus Fly Trap is a fun and cool plant to grow! Keep in mind that these plants have a dormancy period in the fall and winter and will need to experience the colder temperatures to help them get into dormancy. This will help them grow better than if you were to grow them all year round in the ideal environment.
🌞 Venus Fly Traps need direct sunlight for at least 4-6 hours a day. If the temperatures are over 95 degrees, you should protect it in a shady area. Keep in mind that the hot afternoon sun can scorch your plant.
💧Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or rain water only! Minerals in tap water can cause the decline of your Venus Fly Trap. Keep the growing medium moist/wet. Do not let it dry out. They like boggy conditions, so we recommend using nonporous pots. They need soil without any added nutrients. You can use peat moss without added nutrients, perlite, and sphagnum moss. Water every 7-10 days. You may need to water sooner if the water is drying out quicker. You can back off watering slightly in the dormant season, but still not letting it dry out completely. High humidity will be best for these plants.
