Olive Tree
Olea europaea 'Arbequina'
These trees will grow delicious and edible olives. Typically, the olives will form after the tree has been growing for at least 2 years. They can grow up to 20' tall and 12' wide. They are able to self pollinate, so let nature take care of it outdoors or you can hand pollinate the flowers if they are kept indoors. They are cold hardy down to about 20 degrees Fahrenheit, so protection from the extremes are necessary. Prune in early spring so that the parts of the branches that already bore fruit can be removed. Those usually will not grow fruit again.
🌞 Grow in full sun of at least 6 hours for best growth and fruit production. Acclimate your tree to direct sun before leaving it in direct sun for the rest of the growing season.
💧 Keep in well-draining soil and water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. If you keep it in a pot, you will probably need to water it once or twice a week depending on how hot the temperatures are. If it is being kept in the ground, water twice a week to get it established. Then once a week to ever 1.5 weeks thereafter.
