The full policy

Our Live Arrival Guarantee covers any plant that arrives dead, severely damaged, or in a condition where it is unlikely to survive normal care. This includes:

  • Plants that arrive with broken stems or roots that cannot be saved
  • Plants that show clear signs of freeze damage or heat stress from transit
  • Plants that arrive with severe rot caused by shipping conditions
  • Any plant that is dead upon opening the box
💚 We want you to love what you receive. If you're on the fence about whether your plant qualifies, just reach out — we'll always give you the benefit of the doubt.

It's simple and takes about two minutes:

  • Step 1: Take a clear photo of your plant and the packaging within 3 days of your delivery date.
  • Step 2: Email us at store@habitat-plants.com with your order number and the photos.
  • Step 3: We'll respond within 1 business day to arrange a replacement or store credit.
📸 The photo doesn't need to be perfect — a clear shot of the plant out of its pot is all we need.

Claims must be submitted within 3 calendar days of your confirmed delivery date. We use this window to ensure the plant's condition is attributable to shipping and not to care after arrival.

⏰ If you're traveling or away when your package arrives, please let us know in advance. We can hold your shipment or make alternate arrangements so your plants don't sit too long.

Didn't make the 3-day window but have an extenuating circumstance? Reach out anyway — we're people, not robots.

Yes — the Live Arrival Guarantee applies to all live plants in our store, including rare finds, propagations, and made-to-order plants. A few important notes:

  • The guarantee covers live plants only. Dried botanicals, seeds, and plant accessories are not covered under this policy.
  • Rare and limited plants will be replaced with a plant of equal or greater value if the exact variety is out of stock.
  • Propagations are hardy but young — they're covered if they arrive damaged, but normal transplant shock after healthy arrival is not a claim.

We monitor weather across shipping routes and will pause or delay shipments during dangerous conditions — extreme cold snaps, heat waves, or severe storms — to protect your plants.

If we hold your order for weather, you'll receive an email notification. You're always welcome to cancel for a full refund if the delay doesn't work for you.

❄️ During winter months (November–February), we strongly recommend adding a heat pack at checkout for orders shipping to colder climates. Cold damage from a declined heat pack is not covered under the guarantee.

Some drooping, yellowing, or leaf curl after shipping is normal — plants find transit stressful, just like people find airports stressful. This is called "transplant shock" and almost always resolves within 1–2 weeks of proper care.

🌱 When your plant arrives: unbox it promptly, place it in bright indirect light, wait 2–3 days before watering, and avoid fertilizing for the first month. This gives it the best chance to acclimate.

If your plant shows no improvement after 2 weeks of proper care, reach out and send us photos. We'll assess together and find a solution.

Send your order number + photos to store@habitat-plants.com. A short description of what you're seeing is helpful but not required.

We review and respond within 1 business day
Our team reviews your photos and reaches out with a resolution — a replacement shipped at no charge, or store credit for the full plant value. You choose.

Replacement on its way (or credit in your account)
Replacements ship on the next available shipping day (Monday–Wednesday). Store credit never expires and applies to anything in the shop — plants, coffee, home accents, everything.
